The treatment of SCI is a highly specialized field of medicine that can be difficult to comprehend for people trying to cope with the trauma of a spinal cord injury. ASSURED AND ASSOCIATES is dedicated to helping people learn about the major milestones on the road to recovery and providing assistance with resources that will speed the recovery along. Our services include a fully trained in-house staff, Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical nurses, Patient Care Technicians and Certified Nursing Assistants who are highly trained to provide the best care for your loved ones. Our Nurses are exposed to every aspect of spinal cord injury and the C.N.A’s are trained by one of the leading facilities in the industry. They also participate in onsite training at our head office where a specialist who is employed with our organization leads a two day seminar. This ensures competency and that the newest development in the treatment of Spinal cord injury is disseminated in a professional environment.
What is a spinal cord injury? Spinal cord injury is an injury to the spinal cord that blocks the messages about movement below the level of injury. This means messages about movement, feeling, bladder control, sexual functions, breathing, temperature, and blood pressure can be blocked by a spinal injury.
Spinal Cord injury patient are more likely to have wounds, and/or bed sores. These happen due to patient laying or sitting in one spot for a long period of time. Assured and Associates’ highly trained medical staff is here to assist the patient in wound and skin care by helping the patient to turn every two(2) hours to keep the blood flowing to all areas of the body. If a patient is in a wheelchair they are also moved every two hours and helped to stand for a few minutes so that the blood flows through out the entire body. Movement for wheelchair patient includes standing, sitting up in chair, and lying in bed.
Not only are we in the home to help the patient but to make it easier on the family. After a spinal cord injury the family faces many changes in their role. Assured and Associates is there to help carry some of the burden by caring for the patient to give the family a chance to handle other issues around the home
